Systems and Business Analysis

Before a System can be fixed or improved, an organisation needs to know how the system is currently operating.

  • What is the system supposed to be achieving?
  • How does the system actually work?
  • What is being achieved, if anything?
  • What changes need to be made ... to either make it work, or improve it?

The System can be either a people process or, more so today, a technology process.
Regardless of the type .. the task is similar and I go through the same process.

Often a system does not even exist. In this case, the process (in general terms) would be along the following lines:

  • What is the Organisation trying to achieve?
  • Considering the Organisation's nature, structure and resources, would a people or technology system provide the most efficient outcome?
  • Create a System to provide the desired outcome
